One of the main functions of any fluid circulating through the mold is to control the rate of heat transfer, or the cooling rate of the plastic resin. Higher temperatures are required when slow cooling is desired for part property requirements and for high molding temperature resins. Therefore, cold runner molding really is the controlled heating or cooling of the plastic resin as desired.
