Vents » Why Vents?

1 of 10

As plastic material is injected into a cavity, it must displace the air that is already there. Unless the air is removed quickly several things can happen. Air will become trapped and then compressed increasing its temperature enough to cause burn marks or even a hole. Lack of proper venting can cause an increase in injection pressure, short shots, splay marks, poor weld lines, and a high degree of internal stresses.
