Finishing Process Basics In The Plastic Injection Molding

Following the basics is critical to achieving the best possible finish in the shortest possible time. By completing each step in the process before going on to the next, a mold finisher will avoid doing double work and over-polishing. Understanding and following the proper finishing process will save time, money, and avoids removing to much stock.

The experienced mold polisher will follow the finishing sequence shown here to achieve the desired finish in the most efficient manner:

  1. Benchwork
  2. Stone Finishing
  3. Rough Diamond Finishing
  4. Fine Diamond Finishing
  5. Buffing

Each of these steps will be described in more detail on the following pages.
