The stationary platen is a large steel plate that provides a surface to mount the stationary half of the mold. The stationary platen has both threaded mounting holes for the mold clamps and a locating ring hole. The purpose of the locating ring hole is to locate the mold onto the stationary platen and to assure alignment of both the ejector rod pattern and the injection carriage.
