Typical Units Of Impact Resistance Measurement

TypicalUnitsOfImpactREsistanceMeasurement

This graph is a general representation of where steels would be located on an impact strength graph with respect to brittle or tough materials. The vertical scales are in foot pounds, and Joules (Metric). The horizontal scale is in Rockwell C divisions. There is an inverse relationship between impact strength and hardness in steels. Higher impact strength also comes from a lower carbon content or higher tempering temperatures for steel.
