Why is the Injection Molding Cycle Important?

This section will discuss the plastic materials that enter the hopper and the injection molding cycle. Just as the tie bars tie the injection unit to the clamping unit of an injection molding machine, an understanding of the injection molding cycle will tie together all of the concepts covered in this training section. By definition, the injection molding cycle is one complete series of events used to make an injection molded part. The cycle is broken down into four basic parts:

  • Clamping
  • Injection
  • Cooling
  • Ejection
