Buffing is the final step. It is done both mechanically and by hand. Buffing begins when you have completed your last diamonding step. When buffing, a mold polisher will start with the same grade of diamond as the last brushing steps. Techniques are the same as diamonding; work from detail to large surfaces using the largest buff possible. Light pressure and a speed of 4000 to 6000 RPM will produce the best results. When mechanical buffing is complete, hand rubbing with soft felt or a cotton ball will remove any swirl marks left by the buffing process.
