Texturing Step 3: Masking

Masking

Masking defines the actual pattern left on the steel. From wood grain to leather to pebbly, there are hundreds of patterns from which to choose. Proper masking requires patience and skill. The mask cannot be wrinkled or stretched. Care must also be taken when going into corners and in matching edges of two pieces of masking material. Any mistakes would require the mold to be re-polished.
