The acid bath is a chemical etching process. There are two factors that dictate the outcome of the acid bath:
- Type of material to be textured; ferrous/non-ferrous, chrome content, carbon content. These will determine the type and strength of acid to be used.
- Depth of the texture determines the time spent in the acid bath. It should also be noted that the acid not only burns down, but also sideways.
