Common Problems In Vent Design

Parting line vents made too wide are subject to coining. Coining is metal compression, caused from closing the mold under high clamping pressure, thus closing a vent. If vents are too thin they can plug easily, or varying depths between several vents may cause fill problems. Do not vent where part function, cosmetics, or flash may be a problem.
